ReAct™ Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing

Sustaining engineering: small, simple and profitable… yet painfully slow.

Is your Company Opportunistic or Strategic?

It's hard to be both, but it can be helpful to view your engineering backlog in the context of market demand. Watch the video to find out more.

Based on our experiences with product line managers, small sustaining projects are typically undervalued and get pushed down to the bottom of the engineering queue... where some of these projects will stay for years. What should only take 6 months to complete, slowly turns into a 3-year-long project.

Why can't my engineers handle these small sustaining projects?

Your engineers are more than qualified for these projects, but their time is better spent elsewhere.

Engineering at OFS corporations is an impressive system – a system designed to create market-shaking innovation. While innovation is no easy feat, we feel that this caliber of engineering is overkill for small sustaining projects. It's like using a sword to slice tomatoes.

Sustaining projects are pushed off because engineering needs to prioritize the larger new product development (NPD) projects, which makes sense: NPD is much more valuable to the organization (and has the potential to generate more revenue).

Additionally, this system pushes proven opportunities just out of grasp. These sustaining requests, which were once low-cost quick wins, slowly disintegrate in the engineering queue.

There's a different way to do sustaining – and we can help.

With mechanical engineering expertise, experienced project management and robust manufacturing all in house, we can quickly take your sustaining projects from initial request to a field ready product, without spending years in the engineering queue.

Mechanical engineering – that works the way you work.

We've helped many companies with sustaining engineering projects before, and it works best when it's aligned with your internal engineering process. Our documented, transparent approach is fully aligned with your organization's engineering standards and requirements - this means ERP-ready drawings, models, analysis and FEA. To put it simply, engineering that was as if done in house... just quicker.

Experienced project management

Our approach to project management isn't anything you haven't seen before, just a disciplined process based on decades of experience. It all begins with a project scope, and we believe the tighter the better. High visibility and an established structure ensures your project stays on track and profitable.

Robust manufacturing and testing

We know manufacturing and we do manufacturing. So we design for it.

Does any of this ring true for your product line?

If so, the first step is creating a high-level business case - we'll review your project's technical and economical requirements. The project won't work if it fails to provide financial value to you and your organization.

CASE STUDIES

Competitive advantage in a niche market:

Reduced the outer diameter of an existing wireline multi-shot survey tool.

An operator had recently acquired a large quantity of wells in an older field and planned to drill new wells amongst the existing ones. The operator did not have positional surveys on the existing wells and needed multi-shot wireline surveys performed to document the location of the existing wells before drilling new ones. The operator wanted to deploy the multi-shot tools through the existing wells' production tubing which was an unusually small diameter, too small for conventional commercially available multi-shot tools. The operator was faced with the large unforeseen cost of possibly having to remove and then reinstall the production tubing in order to perform multi-shot surveys.

Entering a premium part of the market:

Increased the pressure rating of open hole wireline logging suite.

The oilfield service company was looking to become active in the Ultra High-Pressure Gulf of Mexico market but lacked a 30ksi open hole logging offering, preventing them from competing on an equal footing with the incumbent service companies. A quick solution was required to offer viable solutions in the large upcoming opportunities.

Strategic partnership for competitive cost advantage:

Created tool interface between two different wireline service providers.

An operator in the Middle East desired, but was not economically able, the provide the precision of a gyro tool survey on each new well. The operator asked the sales teams of the open hole logging company and gyro company to partner to explore running the gyro tool on the same deployment as the open hole logging tools thus saving the operator the cost of a dedicated run for gyro deployment.
